Below are the most frequently asked questions we receive about our roofing systems and products. If you have a question that is not answered here, contact us or call 888.301.7712.
Duro-Last offers an extensive range of single-ply thermoplastic roofing options to meet a wide array of project and budgetary parameters.
Our flagship Duro‑Last PVC roofing membrane, known as the “World’s Best Roof®”, is available as a custom-fabricated roofing system or in standard roll sizes, as well as custom-cut roll lengths. Ideal for flat and low-sloped roofing applications, Duro‑Last PVC membranes are extremely durable, highly reflective and resistant to many chemicals. They are also self-extinguishing after fire exposure and require minimal maintenance for long-term performance.
Duro-Last also offers additional roofing options including a KEE+PVC membrane, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roll goods and fleece-backed options for all membrane families. All Duro-Last roofing membranes are supported by custom-fabricated accessories and details and our trademark custom experience.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is an excellent choice as a single-ply roofing membrane material for flat or low-sloped roof surfaces. PVC roofing systems are typically composed of two layers of PVC film and a fabric scrim that provides strength and durability. While they are available in a wide range of colors, white PVC “cool” roofs offer superior reflectivity compared to darker roofing systems, reducing energy consumption. PVC membranes are flexible, lightweight, resistant to most chemicals and self-extinguish after fire exposure. For these reasons, they deliver exceptional performance in all climates. They are also recyclable.
Thermoplastic olefin (TPO) roofing is a hot air-weldable blend of polypropylene and ethylene propylene rubber components. It is an acceptable choice as a single-ply roofing membrane material for flat and low-slope commercial and residential roofing applications. The material is flexible in colder temperatures, helping extend its installation window in colder climates. Its high flexibility allows it to adjust to a variety of roofs and withstand movement and settling. White TPO roofs are heat-reflective and energy-efficient. They are also resistant to ultraviolet, ozone and chemical exposure.
Custom-fabrication saves time, increases installation quality and protects buildings. And it’s what sets Duro‑Last apart. When you install a custom-fabricated Duro‑Last Roofing System, up to 85% of the seams can be completed in our factory-controlled environment before the roofing system is delivered to the jobsite. Duro‑Last also manufactures custom-fabricated accessories for all of our membrane families, providing an easier and faster installation at critical transitions and watertight aesthetics. In addition, every Duro-Last roof comes with the complete Duro-Last custom experience, receiving our full spectrum of engineering, technical and quality assurance support.
Duro‑Last leads the roofing industry with comprehensive warranty coverage, including 25- and 30-year options, providing unparalleled protection for commercial roofing applications. With warranty options which include material and labor coverage as well as hail and/or high wind protection, we have a level of coverage right for any job. And as the first manufacturer with a warranty to expressly cover consequential damages on commercial buildings, we continue to work hard and stand by every square foot.
Duro-Last Membrane is available in white, gray, dark gray, tan and terra cotta colors. Additionally, our Duro‑Tuff® and Duro‑Fleece® roofing systems are available in a variety of colors; white, light gray, charcoal, patina, green, light tan, copper, blue, midnight bronze, brown, bright red and colonial red. Whether you want your roof to stand out or blend in with the surrounding aesthetic, you can count on Duro‑Last to protect your building with style. Refer to our Membrane Color Guide to view all available colors across our product families.
Duro‑Last PVC and TPO roofing systems can be installed over a variety of pre-existing roofing systems, provided the integrity of the current roofing system has not been compromised, compatible underlayments are utilized when necessary and local building codes allow for a recovered roofing system. To schedule a roof evaluation, which will assist you in determining if your roof qualifies for an overlay, contact a Duro‑Last Sales Representative or call Duro-Last at 888.301.7712.
Duro‑Last offers a Recycle Your Roof take back program for mechanically attached Duro‑Last PVC roofing systems that have reached the end of their useful life. Through this program, the Duro‑Last PVC roofing system is removed from the roof, fasteners are cut from the material and the PVC membrane is shipped back to Duro‑Last for recycling into new products such as ROOF‑TRAK® walkway pads, PROFLEX® concrete expansion joints and Protect‑All® flooring. To learn more about the Duro‑Last Recycle Your Roof program, contact a Duro‑Last Sales Representative or call Duro-Last at 888.301.7712.
Incorporating roof washing into your routine maintenance plan can help maintain the appearance of your roofing system as well as solar reflectivity on white membranes. Utilizing Wash Safe™ Roof Wash from Duro‑Last can keep your rooftop free of biological growth. A non-sudsing, non-abrasive cleanser such as Spic and Span® or Simple Green® can keep your rooftop clean of dirt and environmental debris. Do not use solvent-based cleaners. In addition to regular inspections by a roofing professional, as well as any inspections required with your Duro‑Last warranty, owners should plan to check their roof at least twice per year for potential damage and regular clean-up.
